AstraZeneca TSLP Virtual Experience

This immersive 3D website aimed to create an unbranded experience that describes the science behind late-stage asthma. AstraZeneca/Amgen team is working on a new therapy that blocks a protein called thymic stromal lymphopoietin (TSLP). TSLP belongs to the cytokine family, responsible for sending messages and sounding an alarm to the body's immune system that triggers inflammation. The creative gamification treatment simulates a police investigation room, where the user examines scientific evidence and clues.

The Challenge

AstraZeneca had a unique challenge to support scientific conversations and share information about TSLP.

The Solution

With most of the world in quarantine, we worked remotely with the client and agency partner to build an engaging web-based 3D experience that explores the TSLP story, its pathways, and the ‘usual suspects’ therein. Using our Virtual Exhibit and Event Platform (VEEP), we created a gamified, explorable virtual environment modeled after a police detective’s office. We crafted a fun, scripted dialog among the common immune system cells (portrayed as the “suspects” of asthma), being interrogated by virtual visitors.

The Result

Visitors learn immune cells’ stories by following ‘clues’ around the scene. Visitors gather their information, download clinical data, and explore pathway graphics to deliver critical information about potential therapy. Built-in metrics and reporting provide actionable insights on how visitors explore the content. This experience is web-based and responsive across various devices and browser technology.
